ACID (Anti Copying In Design) was established in 1996, by designers for designers created to combat the growing threats of plagiarism in the design and creative industries. By helping its members to understand and protect their rights, ACID is intent on stamping out intellectual property rights abuse. Members sign up to ACID’s code of conduct.
BCSE (The British Council for School Environments) is made up of local authorities, schools, construction companies, architects and others involved in, and concerned about, the design and build process in the education sector.
BESA (The British Educational Suppliers Association) promotes and provides information about their member companies which include manufacturers and distributors of equipment, materials, books, consumables, furniture, technology, ICT hardware and digital content – all to the education market. Members sing up to BESA’s code of practice.
FIRA (The Furniture Industry Research Association) offers a range of services to all sectors of the UK and international furniture supply chain, including manufacturers, suppliers, retailers and specifiers. These include internationally renowned testing laboratories as well as ergonomics consultancy.
OFAS (The Office Furniture Advisory Service) was founded in 1987 and provides impartial consultancy services for specific office and contract furniture related projects - usually for facilities managers and specifiers - who may require assistance with, for example, implementing a furniture audit, advice and recommendations on furniture selection, or guidance on the most suitable procurement process.
