Too cool for school? We don't think so ...

What do a green tree, a very large orange beanbag, a caterpillar made of brightly coloured upholstered stools and a dodo have in common?  They were all part of Professor Stephen Heppell’s Cool Schools stand at last week’s Education Show, which Isis was delighted to furnish.
The idea behind Cool Schools was to show that classrooms can be bright, colourful, stimulating places where learning can be fun and interactive.  Isis designs furniture that absolutely supports this point of view.  We know that there are more inspiring ways to learn than simply sitting in rows facing the front.
Isis MD Nick Topliss explained, “Learners of all ages respond with great enthusiasm to a bright, dynamic and fun place in which to learn.  It’s far more stimulating and engaging for teachers and learners alike if they can adapt their environment to suit the style of lesson rather than sitting in one place all the time.  Also comfort has an important role to play.  You wouldn’t sit at the dining table at home to read and enjoy a book so why do we expect students to do it in the classroom?”
